Principle of operation of the diesel engine

At the diesel engine arriving clean air is exposed to high extent of compression. Thanks to it the temperature in cylinders rises above temperature of ignition of diesel fuel. When the piston is in situation before VMT, in compressed and warmed up to temperature +600°С air is injected diesel fuel. Diesel fuel ignites in itself, spark plugs here are not required. On the cold engine the necessary temperature of ignition is not reached and consequently preheat is necessary for the engine. For this purpose in each vortical chamber the glow plug takes place.
