Check/adjustment of a gap of valves

E1 engines, EZ, Е5, VZ, В5, В6 to 9/89 g вып., PN

For compensation of various thermal expansions in the distributive mechanism there should be a certain gap of valves.

At too small gap gazoraspredeleniye phases change, there is unsatisfactory a compression, engine capacity decreases, the engine works unstably. In extreme cases valves or saddles of valves can be deformed.

At too big gap there is very strong mechanical noise, gazoraspredeleniye phases change, owing to too short time of opening of valves the engine does not develop the maximum capacity, the engine works unstably. Adjustment of valves reaches desirable result only if valves faultlessly condense, have no inadmissible люфта in directing and are not brought down on the ends of cores.

The gap of valves is checked and regulated on the heated-up engine. The working condition of the engine is reached by a trip on 10-15 km under normal conditions when the index of temperature is in average area.

Check

  1. To uncover heads of cylinders.
  2. To establish the piston of the 1st cylinder in situation VMT, see. Section Removal and installation of a gear belt of VZ engines, В5, B6 (SOHC), (SOHC) VR.
  3. For a provorachivaniye of the crankshaft to include the 5th or 4th transfer and to shift the car on an equal surface. Other possibility to turn crankshaft: To lift a forward wheel, to include the 5th or 4th transfer and to turn a wheel a hand.
  4. To check, whether have the yokes relating to the 1st cylinder, on the valve a small gap, and yokes of the 4th cylinder densely adjoin. If not so, the crankshaft it is necessary to turn it on 1 complete revolution.
  1. To check and if necessary to adjust a gap of the inlet valve of the 1st cylinder (Е1) and the 2nd cylinder (Е2), the final 1st cylinder (А1) and the 3rd cylinder (AZ) with the help щупа.
  1. To measure a gap between the valve and a yoke. Adjusting values see in the table.
  1. Shchup should be dragged with effort, otherwise adjust a gap.
  2. To turn the crankshaft on one turn (360 °) is farther, while the mark in a belt pulley will not coincide with a mark in a cover of a driving belt.
  3. To check and if necessary to adjust a gap of the inlet valve of the 3rd cylinder (EZ) and the 4th cylinder (Е4), and also the final 2nd cylinder (А2) and the 4th cylinder (А4).
  4. Shchup should pass with effort, otherwise adjust a gap.

Adjustment

  1. If value does not correspond demanded, to weaken a lock-nut a usual or cap key on 1 turn. Thus to hold the adjusting screw a screw-driver.
  2. To turn the adjusting screw a screw-driver and to adjust a valve gap.
  3. Then to fix the adjusting screw a lock-nut.
  4. Once again to check a valve gap.
  5. In the same way to check and adjust a gap of all valves.

It is expedient to mark yokes of already adjusted valves with chalk.

  2. To uncover heads of cylinders.
